ABOUT
Compassion Homeless Care is our community-centered response to homelessness in Central and East Contra Costa County. Through Clean Start Outreach, we meet neighbors where they are with mobile outreach that provides showers, hygiene, food, clothing, and care navigation toward stability.
Why it matters
On a single night in 2025, about 2,100 people were experiencing homelessness in Contra Costa County, many without access to basic care.
Clean Start Homeless Outreach
Through our mobile shower trailer, we provide clean, dignified showers, hygiene kits, and basic care with neighbors experiencing homelessness.
Mobile Resource Centers
Partnering with local organizations and churches, we mobilize resource centers that provide clothing, food, hygiene, healthcare access, and care navigation—meeting immediate needs while connecting neighbors to ongoing support.
Stability and next steps
We help neighbors move toward stability by connecting them with trusted partners for shelter, supportive services, and longer-term pathways forward.
Relational care and community
We walk alongside neighbors experiencing homelessness through consistent, relational care—building trust, fostering friendship, and inviting people into a supportive community where they are known and valued.
Who we serve
Individuals and families in East Contra Costa experiencing homelessness, housing insecurity, or crisis situations. All services are offered free of charge, in safe, welcoming environments that uphold dignity, compassion, and hope.
Locations
Our Clean Start mobile units bring dignity and care directly to neighbors experiencing homelessness. Every week, we provide hot showers, hygiene supplies, clothing, food, and compassionate support at four locations throughout the county.

OUR IMPACT
Each year, Clean Start provides over 4,000 showers, improving hygiene, access to water, and basic health for neighbors experiencing homelessness.
Care, consistency, and human connection matter. 92% of guests report feeling more hopeful after accessing Clean Start services.
Through trusted relationships and care navigation, multiple guests each year move into housing and experience recovery from substance use, taking meaningful steps toward long-term stability.
Annually, Clean Start distributes over 1,500 sets of clothing along with thousands of hygiene kits—meeting immediate needs with dignity and respect.
Clean Start brings together churches, volunteers, and community partners—creating shared spaces where neighbors serve, build trust, and care for one another.
