Compassion Education:
Strong minds flourish

Storng minds flourish

ABOUT

Strong minds start with reading. Through Read On!, we partner with local schools and faith communities to support young readers from disadvantaged backgrounds—building confidence, comprehension, and opportunity.

Why it matters

In California, nearly two-thirds of students from low-income families struggle to read at grade level by fourth grade.

How Compassion Education Works

Literacy Support

Certified-led literacy coaching for young readers from underserved communities, supported by trained volunteers.

Weekend Bag Support

Weekend food, books matched to reading level, clothing, and essentials—helping students return to school ready to learn.

Healthy living

Promoting healthy living through accessible sports opportunities and school pantry support—reinforcing classroom learning and helping children thrive.

School Support

Coming alongside teachers with encouragement, gratitude, and tangible support for the vital work they do.

OUR IMPACT

Key outcomes of Compassion Education include:

1
Students Reached

Across two partner schools, more than 50 students and their families are currently supported through Read On!, expanding access to consistent academic and family-centered care.

2
Reading Progress

Students participating in one-on-one literacy support have shown encouraging progress in reading skills, along with increased confidence and engagement in learning.

3
Family Engagement

Through ongoing relationship-building, families have become more engaged and connected, allowing needs to be identified earlier and support to be more responsive.

4
Stability Beyond the School Week

Weekend support has helped reduce barriers to learning by providing access to food, books, clothing, and essential resources outside of school hours.
